Musings About Gratitude

Playing with computer graphics.
Daily Musings – it has a Photo, a Mood, a Food, a Fitness Report, a Musing, a Read, a Fashion Update and a Fun Fact about me. What more could you need from the Internet? Don't forget to subscribe if you want to get updates.

Date: THANKSGIVING Thursday 11/27/14 6:49 P.M. Perfect weather.
Mood: I hit the ground running today. I started writing for Nanowrimo right away. I've yet to hit the line once on the chart that shows I'm on track.
Eats: We had ham for dinner. We are having our Turkey Dinner when my boyfriend gets 3 days off so he can enjoy it more.

Fitness: I think it is illegal to work out on Thanksgiving. I did some ring juggling today.

Musing: I told someone I'd written a 500 word essay on gratitude today and he asked if I was clinically depressed. He said that is what depressed people do. I found that utter nonsense. That is what 'law of attraction' people do all the time as well as people that believe in positive affirmations. I think I'm a bit offended by his remark.

Reading:  It took me a month to get Changling from the library, so now I'm reading it and loving it.

Fashion Update: I thought I'd get all dressed up for Thanksgiving. But then I realized i wasn't going anywhere but the park so I just dressed casually.

Fun Facts About Me:  I love petting zoos.

Daily Musings: Having a Crafty Day

Not too late to book me for December Christmas parties.
Daily Musings – it has a Photo, a Mood, a Food, a Fitness Report, a Musing, a Read, a Fashion Update and a Fun Fact about me. What more could you need from the Internet? Don't forget to subscribe if you want to get updates.

Date: Wednesday 11/26/14 9:48 A.M. Perfect weather.
Mood: Woke up with a headache but feeling much better now.
Eats: I'm going to be cleaning the kitchen today so my boyfriend can make something to take to work on Friday.

Fitness: Everyone keeps suggesting I go for a long hike. I can't really do that with my Achilles tendon injury.

Musing:  I was going to go to town with my boyfriend today to go to the knitting meeting but his schedule got changed and I would have gotten to town 2 hours too early. But now I'm thankful I didn't go because I remembered there is no knitting meeting today because of Thanksgiving vacation. Doh! Now I have time to catch up on my Nanowrimo challenge.

Reading:  It took me a month to get Changling from the library, so now I'm reading it and loving it.

Fashion Update: I want to wear something bright and fun today.

Fun Facts About Me: I'd love to have two dachshunds.

Monday That's My Fun Day

Wearing green for the fashion challenge.
Date:Mon. 11/24/14 5:40 P.M.

Mood: I woke up so happy to have something to write about today.
.
Eats: Need to cook some pork that's been thawed awhile.

Fitness: I picked up 4 belly dance instructional videos on sale at the library.

Musing: I'm so glad that I finally hit my stride with the Nanowrimo challenge. I just hope it is soon enough to catch up.

Reading: I told the librarian I'd requested a book a month ago and she looked into it and there was some sort of glitch, so she found another copy at the Apple Valley library and I'll pick it up tomorrow after pottery class.

Fashion Update: The Internet didn't exist when I was 22 with a decent figure. So now I'm trying to play model when I'm old and fat, which is kind of a drag, but better late than never.

Fun Facts About Me: If Maggie Smith can still be an actress with 60 years in her resume' then I can still have a crack at acting.

Four chickens looking for action.

Fun Facts About Me: I like monkeys, esp. spider monkeys.

Almost Winter in Lucerne Valley California

Winter has arrived early in Lucerne Valley, CA. For the past 3 nights, the water has frozen in the hoses and the bird water buckets. I've had to wear layers to bed, as well as five blankets. Last night my boyfriend figured out how to make a hot water bottle.

I still miss the city life. But I also appreciate the giant yard we have and the lack of traffic. We live on a dirt road. We never have to sit in traffic, unless we drive to a bigger town. Compared to spending hours on the 405 or 5 or 22 FWY, it's a blessing. Everywhere you live has pros and cons. I guess I want the best of both worlds.

It looks like soon I'll have a ride to Rancho Cucamunga fairly regularly, at least until Feb. Then I'll have a ride into town more often if I need to visit a craft store. I've really missed having a local craft store. The Lucerne Market carries a few items if I get in a pinch, but it's no Michael's. Of course if I get a ride to town, I won't get a ride home for 4 or 5 hours. But I can take my knitting or a sketchbook or a journal or a book. I'm good at entertaining myself. In fact sometimes I get more done if I'm not at home.

Beautiful view from my backyard.

Every day I'm frustrated because I feel like I should be doing more with my life. It's almost 2 AM and I'm blogging, mainly because I haven't written anything all day.
Checking out the weather.
Frozen birdbath.
Saving wood for a chicken coop.

Intent, chatrooms and pointlessness

All day today I've been lapsing in and out of depression. Typical the commercialism of Christmas depresses me, but that's not what I want to talk about here. I want to talk about the power of intention. How our thoughts change our lives either for the better or for the worse. How once again for the millionth time I have to remind myself that negative thoughts lead to negative outcomes. But you can't just say 'now I'm going to be positive' and just do it anymore than you can tell a pot of boiling water 'now you are going to be an ice cube'. It's true they are both made of water, but some other processes have to be involved first. For one thing, it takes time. And it takes intent. You have to ask yourself why you are boiling the water in the first place if you are supposed to be making ice cubes. But that's how we are, doing one set of actions but expecting different end results.

I've been wasting a lot of time in chatrooms. Which isn't to say you can't meet interesting people and have some good conversations in chatrooms. But at least in the chatrooms where I've been there is a lot of down time when people are either not talking at all, not talking to me in particular, or talking about depressing things or topics I have no interest in. So for maybe 20 minutes of useful chatroom time spent, there may be 2 hours of time wasted. Or I bump into Paul for example, and Paul and I have had pretty much the same conversation the last 20 times we've talked. Do you know what I mean? It's just chit chat and goes nowhere.

And when I'm depressed the conversations go downhill. The person starts offering advice on how to fix my business, and they are all things I've tried twenty times before and I just end up more hopeless and helpless than ever.

I thought this blog was going to have some epiphany at the end, but so far I just feel more blah than ever.

Family Tales

I totally enjoyed International Talk Like A Pirate Day yesterday even though I was all alone. It's always a good day to be a pirate.
Today we have errands to run, grocery shopping and all. My bf wants to go to four different grocery stores. I'm more of a 'one stop shopping' person. I get tired being dragged around from place to place. So much for the stereotype that women like to shop more than men.
I still haven't gotten up to Central CA to see my first grandchild. I'm trying to save the money for the trip, so of course I just got my business license bill for another $100. Ugh. I'm going up there anyway for a gig on Oct. 25, but it's hard to wait. I feel like everyone is seeing my grandson before I get too. I had planned to just catch the very next train up there, but then my bf and I had a fight about it and it sucked all my enthusiasm right out of me. He doesn't have children so he doesn't see what the big hubbub is all about.
Then a few days after I would have gone was that big train head-on collision in Chatsworth, so that made me feel a little funny about riding on the train. I guess the whole situation with my truck not being safe for long trips and family stuff and money stuff all just wears me out so I stick my head in the sand.
Speaking of which my truck was vandalized again. I got in it to drive to KFC last night and someone had written 'fukyou' on the driver's mirror. I think the poor spelling bothered me more than the act itself. Luckily it wasn't permanent marker like I thought. It rubbed off with a wet paper towel. But still. This neighborhood sucks.
